Join us for an engaging evening celebrating art and culture at the opening reception of "Marking: Indigenous Narrative," a captivating large-scale relief printmaking exhibition. Immerse yourself in the power of monochrome expression as we showcase the works of 18 talented artists, each sharing their unique stories through the ancient art of woodcut printing.

  • Date: Thursday, April 11th

  • Private Opening for Donors and Sponsors: 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM

  • Open to the Public: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Discover the evolution of woodcut printing, a technique with roots deep in history yet possessing contemporary relevance. Woodcut printing involves:

  • Carving an image into a block of wood.

  • Leaving the raised areas to apply ink, which is then transferred onto paper or fabric.

  • Resulting in a striking, textured artwork/ Print.

Enjoy the rhythmic tunes of the Thunderboy Singers from 6:00 PM to 6:45 PM and Tony Tee will DJ the event from 7-8 PM. Delight your taste buds with delicious culinary creations curated by Victoria Redbird of Unite the People Native Catering. Marking: Indigenous Narrative Exhibition

The 2024 Steamroller Print Fest Spotlight Print Exhibition

WOODBLOCK PRINTS BY INDIGENOUS ARTISTS

ARTSPACE at Untitled’s annual Spotlight exhibition features an all-indigenous show featuring woodblock prints, a form of carving in which the artist makes markings on the top surface of a wood block, leaving a raised image.

The artists in this exhibition will carve on wood blocks, using tools to shape and detail their design by carving and mark-making. Ink is then applied to the carved woodblock and the block is then printed on paper or fabric. Mark your calendars now for the opening of Marking: Indigenous Narrative at ARTSPACE at Untitled April 11th, 5-8 PM.
