An Exhibition by Austin and Marilyn Artus

A mixed media exhibition by mother and son artist duo Austin and Marilyn Artus. This collection of artwork explores the burden of trauma, the expression of vulnerability, and the healing joy of collaborative creation.

Austin Artus

  • Austin is a recent graduate of the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha with a degree in Theatre Arts and a minor in the Psychology of Gender. He recently worked with the University of Oklahoma's School of Sociology and DHS as a client actor simulating mental health situations to train future social workers. He will be attending the University of Oklahoma in the Fall of 2024 to start working on a Masters degree in counseling.

Marilyn Artus

  • Marilyn is an activist artist that focuses on issues related to equality. Her recent national art project 'Her Flag' was exhibited at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington D.C.

ODDS AND ENDS FROM HIGH TO LOW AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN: An ARTSPACE Studio Sale

ARTSPACE is gearing up for an incredibly special event: to support our efforts to raise $100,000 by the end of 2024, we're hosting a massive studio sale. Everything from building supplies to fine art, from $5 to $20,000, is fair game. All proceeds benefit ARTSPACE at Untitled.

We're in the process of cataloging our inventory, so keep an eye out on social media for highlights or purchase a ticket for early access from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 15 for first dibs! Free access to the sale will begin at 9:00 AM on Friday, August 16 - Saturday, August 17.

Quilt + Paint 

Qu’aint is an ongoing conversation between painting and quilting, past and present. Sarah Atlee, Brenda Esslinger, Elizabeth Richards, Ann Solinski, Agnes Stadler, and Jason Wilson have been collaborating since 2018 to investigate the different ways we make meaning from material.

The Uncovering | Qu’aint Exhibition features contemporary art quilts and paintings that are inspired by the two art forms’ commonalities.

There is a common misconception that quilting is a dying art. The collaborative art group Qu’aint is here to show audiences that quilting is alive and thriving, inspiring contemporary artists to reach new ground.

With Uncovering, the Qu’aint artists hope to illuminate the ways that genres overlap and provoke conversation about what unites us.

The 2024 Steamroller Print Fest Spotlight Print Exhibition

WOODBLOCK PRINTS BY INDIGENOUS ARTISTS 

ARTSPACE at Untitled’s annual Spotlight exhibition features an all-indigenous show featuring woodblock prints, a form of carving in which the artist makes markings on the top surface of a wood block, leaving a raised image.

The artists in this exhibition will carve on wood blocks, using tools to shape and detail their design by carving and mark-making. Ink is then applied to the carved woodblock and the block is then printed on paper or fabric. 8th Annual Mentorship Exhibition

Join us in celebrating the impact of our Mentorship Program!

Each year, we reach over 150 students across 14 schools, guiding them through artistic exploration and preparing them for a dynamic academic and professional future.

The opening reception for this year's exhibition will take place on March 7 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, with an award ceremony from 6:00-6:30. We invite you to immerse yourself in the creativity of our talented students, accompanied by light hors d'oeuvres.

This competitive exhibition offers high and middle school students unparalleled exposure, fostering connections within the larger art community. Selected students will showcase relief prints and screen prints produced throughout the year, reflecting their growth and dedication.

Throughout the Mentorship Program, students engage in peer critiques and discussions with esteemed artist mentors, enriching their understanding of artistic processes. We are immensely grateful to our sponsors for enabling us to offer this program free of charge to participating students and schools.

The exhibition will run from March 7 to March 30. Please join us in supporting these incredibly talented young adults' artistic journeys. 

Meet the Juror: 

 

  • Melissa Jacobs is an artist based in Oklahoma City. Her work ranges from drawing and painting to ceramics and various printed media. Her primary focus is portraiture influenced by historical images and popular culture. She works out of her home studio surrounded by her garden. In 2019 she received her Masters of Fine Arts in Studio Art from the University of Oklahoma.

Exquisite Box Exhibition

Our Exquisite Corpse exhibition was created by 25 talented artists, who each designed a corpse that was later mixed and matched with others to create entirely new and unique compositions. With 25 printed corpses, totaling 78 distinct sectioned prints, there is a multitude of limitless creative possibilities. The exquisite corpse prints are still available for purchase and come neatly stored in a cigar box. While you're exploring, be sure to check out our personalized cigar boxes, beautifully crafted by the exhibition artists and containing a set of prints. Ensure you visit us before the conclusion of our Exquisite Corpse exhibition on December 16th.

Microbial Multiverse Exhibition

Microbes are Earth’s oldest living organisms. They live in consortia with all other forms of life. Trillions of microbes occupy all bodies—living or dead, human, or animal --inside and out. Microbes are woven within the intricacies of our ecosystems. They permeate clouds, atmospheres, and human brains. “Microbial Multiverse” is an exhibition of interconnected bodies of work celebrating these latent lifeforms and their multifaceted function within our universe.

Explorations by Betty Busby

Betty Busby is a lifelong artist who creates phenomenal fiber art and quilts. She is often inspired by the macro world, exploring the structures and forms of nature.

After graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design with a ceramics major, Betty Busby founded a custom ceramic tile manufacturing firm in Los Angeles. After nearly 20 years of running the firm, she sold the business in 1994 (it is still in operation to this day). Upon relocating to New Mexico, she changed the focus of her artwork to fiber, taking it full time in 2004.

Her manufacturing background has lead to constant experimentation with new materials and techniques that fuel her work.  Originally inspired by Amish quilts at the Kutztown County Fair near her childhood home in Pennsylvania, her work has made the journey from bed quilts to mixed media sculpture, and is constantly evolving and heading in new directions.

The classic fractal structures of the sub microscopic world are a persistent model, as are natural processes, such as oxidation, replication and growth.
