Join ARTSPACE at Untitled for an exclusive panel discussion with the six artists represented in the Uncovering | Qu’aint Exhibition. The unique minds behind this conversational, interrelated collaboration of painting and quilting will discuss the ideas behind the exhibition, the myriad benefits of drawing inspiration from other genres, and quilting as an art form. Sarah Atlee, Brenda Esslinger, Elizabeth Richards, Ann Solinski, Agnes Stadler, and Jason Wilson have been collaborating since 2018 to investigate the different ways we make meaning from material.

Uncovering | Qu'aint Community Quilting

Uncovering

Quilt + Paint 

Come quilt with fiber artist Agnes Stadler while she stitches up a “Kawandi” style community quilt in the main ARTSPACE gallery. She will discuss techniques, the process behind the community project, and the quilts on display in the Uncovering exhibition.

A sewing station will be available for visitors to try stitching a small “Kawandi” style sample. Supplies are only guaranteed for the first 12 participants who arrive in the main gallery.

Come contribute to the community quilt for free at ARTSPACE at Untitled on June 22 from 10:30 am - 3:30 pm.

Qu’aint is an ongoing conversation between painting and quilting, past and present. Sarah Atlee, Brenda Esslinger, Elizabeth Richards, Ann Solinski, Agnes Stadler, and Jason Wilson have been collaborating since 2018 to investigate the different ways we make meaning from material.

The Uncovering | Qu’aint Exhibition features contemporary art quilts and paintings that are inspired by the two art forms’ commonalities.

There is a common misconception that quilting is a dying art. The collaborative art group Qu’aint is here to show audiences that quilting is alive and thriving, inspiring contemporary artists to reach new ground.

With Uncovering, the Qu’aint artists hope to illuminate the ways that genres overlap and provoke conversation about what unites us.

Closing Reception: Once Old is New

On Thursday, August 9th, from 5:00-8:00 PM we will be hosting the Once Old is New closing reception! Join us and members of the OKC Modern Quilt Guild as we celebrate the artistry and success of our most recent exhibit. Attendees will be able to view two quilt demos while enjoying complimentary refreshments. This night also commences the quilt sale which will last till August 18th. During the sale, all large group quilts can be purchased 20% off. Free and open to everyone.

Community Spirit: English Paper Piecing with Elizabeth Richards

Join us in the print studio on Thursday, July 12th from 5-7pm for our first Community Spirit of the summer! In conjunction with our newest exhibition, Once Old is New by the OKC Modern Quilt Guild, Melissa Sullivan will be leading a free demonstration on English Paper Piecing--a quilting technique used to hand sew intricate patchwork with the aid of paper templates.
